Professional Year (PY) Program in Information Technology:
The Professional Year Program (PY) for IT, developed by the Australian Computer Society (ACS), is a 44-week program designed for international graduates who have completed an Australian IT degree. The PY program includes 32 weeks of coursework and 12 weeks of internship, helping graduates transition from university to employment in Australia.

 

Eligibility Criteria for IT Programs:

  • Must have completed relevant qualifications (depending on the course level).
  • English proficiency
  • IELTS score of 5 overall, with no band less than 6.0, or
  • PTE Academic score of 58 (no communicative skill score below 50).

 

Visa Requirements for Studying IT in Australia:

  • A valid passport for the duration of study.
  • An offer letter from an Australian university or institution.
  • Evidence of sufficient funds to cover tuition and living expenses.
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
  • Other documents required by the Department of Home Affairs.

 

Pathway to Australian Permanent Residency (PR):
Due to the high demand for IT professionals in Australia, many IT-related occupations are consistently listed on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL). Graduates of IT programs have a strong chance of obtaining PR through skilled migration pathways.
